To create a category first Virtual Dermatologist experience that will help Consultants take their businesses to new heights through PC capture and retention. Create an AI-enhanced skin diagnostics tool that will correctly prescribe the right regimen for both the Consumer and Consultant. Drive desired behaviors via personalized recommendations, progress tracking, education, rewards and routine coaching.
Another part of the challenge internally was that this was NOT on our 2017 AOP Plan so we had to make a pitch to the Founders to get funding. To gain buy-in, my approach was to tell the story of the Virtual Dermatologist back to the Founders just as they had envisioned, but with insights from our research and opportunities discovered by my team.

UNDERSTANDING THE AUDIENCE
We conducted stakeholder interviews and filled in the gaps of our design research through multiple rounds of concept validation. We leveraged existing market research and BI data to help us converge on a direction for MVP and beyond. All of the concepts, Information Architecture, User Flows and UI in the new product were informed by further design research conducted twice a month.
BUILDING THE EXPERIENCE
This product was the first to fully take advantage of the Clarity Experience Design System by pulling in code repositories as needed. My team of designers, researchers and engineers worked closely with Brand, Marketing, Product Development, and Product Managers as we rapidly iterated and tested our prototypes with users. My team led the overall experience, art direction, micro-interactions, and coded UI components throughout.
THE RESULT SO FAR
This is the most exciting product that I have worked on during my time at Rodan + Fields. It truly has the opportunity to digitally augment the Consultant/Customer relationship and disrupt social commerce as we know it. This is more than just a new product to add to the portfolio, this will be game changing for the beauty industry as well as other 2-sided marketplaces. We are still in the lean agile process of iterating and testing our designs with all segments of users. When launched, this product will push our business to the next level of success.
